Saint James Wrestling wins MAC individual and duals championships
Saint James School wrestling claimed the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAC) dual championship on Wednesday with a perfect 4-0 record, capping off a dominant week after five wrestlers won weight class titles in the MAC individual championships on February 1.
Saints' individual champions included Jorge Garrido Urias (113 pounds), Michael Holmes (126), Chase Pugh (132), Gabe Robinson (165), and Derek Owumi (215), with Brodie Burdette also earning all-MAC honors. Holmes also celebrated his 100th career win during the dual championships.
Despite the victories, first-year coach Kacey Michelsen remains focused on bigger goals. "I want it to be an expectation that we win the MAC," he said, emphasizing the team's ambition to capture the Maryland Independent School Class B state championship.
